Super clamp
Work very well and looking forward to using them more in the future.
Best clamp I’ve used!
So easy to use. It makes the other clamps obsolete. About half the time to secure boards than with other clamps I’ve used.
Used this on a few projects and it works great! No problems with it and it seems really well built!
This review covers 3 Massca clamps of two different types: the Quick Gear, and the 6" (this one) and 12" Aluminum Lever clamps. The ratchets differ between the two types, the main difference (to me) being that the Quick Gear's pawl doesn't fully engage the ratchet. Having used these clamps for a few weeks, in practice that has turned out to be a non-issue, though I'll have to wait to see if it presents a longevity problem.Despite the ratchet concern, I found that I prefer the Quick Gear clamps. They are faster to use and less fussy with alignment, as one of the clamping surfaces is a steel swivel pad. Stronger clamping force, too. By contrast, the Aluminum Lever clamps have two padded clamp surfaces and, like all such clamps, tend to pull your work one way or another depending on any tilt you inadvertently introduce while clamping. Both are in play in the pictured fit-up. There are a variety of ways to clamp a piece like this, but clamping to the narrow vertical part illustrates the problem. After gluing, I first started with an Aluminum lever clamp. The part slipped immediately. I realigned, swapped in a Quick Gear clamp and it didn't budge. I used the Aluminum Lever clamps in the remaining positions - but pinned the part in place first with a 23ga pinner.Fit and finish on the Massca clamps is excellent. Beautiful casting and perfect paint. I did have some paint scraping on bars for the first few uses, after which it stopped. A bare touch of lube on the bars helps, too, though not strictly necessary.I own a raft full of B***** and J** bar clamps, but none of their F clamps, as I think the fit and finish on those is atrocious for the money. I keep looking, but keep passing them up ...The Massca clamps are a worthwhile alternative to the big box store and big name clamps.Recommended.
This is a really good, hefty, durable clamp that will stay put where you need it. It's quite a bit heavier than many cheaper plastic and metal clamps, but this seems like a plus as it should be less likely to break if dropped. No complaints here!
